1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit them. These files contain information that the website can read when you return, enabling various features and functionality.

Websites use cookies for many purposes, including remembering your login status, storing your preferences, tracking site analytics, and delivering personalized content.

2. Our Approach to Cookies

At testify.law, we believe in minimal cookie usage. We only use cookies that are necessary for the platform to function properly or that provide essential features you expect, such as staying logged in.

We do NOT use:

  • Advertising cookies or tracking pixels
  • Third-party marketing or retargeting cookies
  • Social media tracking cookies
  • Cross-site tracking mechanisms

For more information about how we handle your personal data overall, please see our Privacy Policy.

3. Essential Cookies

Essential cookies are required for testify.law to function properly. These cookies enable core functionality like authentication and security. Without these cookies, you would not be able to use authenticated features of the platform.

Note: The * in the cookie names represents our Supabase project ID. These cookies are set by Supabase, our authentication and database provider.

Learn more about how Supabase handles your data in their Privacy Policy.

Consequence of disabling: If you block or delete these essential cookies, you will not be able to log in or use authenticated features of testify.law, such as creating a profile, sending inquiries, or managing your account.

4. Functional Cookies

Functional cookies enhance your experience on testify.law by remembering your choices and preferences. These cookies are not strictly required for the platform to operate, but they provide features you may expect.

Consequence of disabling: If you block or delete the referral_code cookie, referral attribution will not work. The person who referred you to testify.law will not receive credit for the referral.

5. Analytics and Tracking

testify.law uses Vercel Web Analytics to understand how visitors use our platform. This helps us identify popular features, diagnose technical issues, and improve the user experience.

Vercel Analytics Does NOT Use Cookies

Important: Unlike traditional analytics tools (such as Google Analytics), Vercel Web Analytics does not use cookies or persistent identifiers. Instead, it uses a hash-based approach that generates an anonymous identifier from request metadata (such as IP address, user agent, and timestamp).

This means:

  • No cookies are stored on your device for analytics purposes
  • Analytics data is anonymous and aggregated
  • You cannot be tracked across different websites
  • Session data is discarded after 24 hours
  • No personal information is collected or stored for analytics

Learn more about Vercel’s privacy practices in their Privacy Policy.

6. Managing Your Cookies

You are in control of what cookies are stored on your device. Most web browsers allow you to manage cookie settings through their preferences or settings menu.

Browser Cookie Settings

Each browser has its own method for managing cookies. For detailed instructions, please refer to your browser’s official documentation:

  • Google Chrome: Manage cookies in Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox: Clear cookies and site data in Firefox
  • Apple Safari: Manage cookies in Safari
  • Microsoft Edge: Delete cookies in Microsoft Edge

Understanding the Consequences

Disabling cookies may affect your experience on testify.law:

  • Essential cookies: Disabling these will prevent you from logging in or using authenticated features
  • Functional cookies: Disabling these will prevent features like referral tracking from working

Since we do not use cookies for analytics (Vercel Analytics is cookie-free), disabling cookies will not affect our ability to understand aggregate platform usage.

7. Global Privacy Control (GPC)

Global Privacy Control (GPC) is a privacy preference signal that you can enable in certain web browsers and browser extensions. When enabled, GPC sends a signal to websites indicating that you do not want your personal information to be sold or shared for targeted advertising.

Our Response to GPC

testify.law recognizes and honors the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out request under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

However, it’s important to note that testify.law does not sell or share your personal information for advertising purposes, regardless of whether you send a GPC signal. We do not engage in cross-context behavioral advertising, retargeting, or any form of data brokerage.

GPC and Your Rights

Enabling GPC on your browser ensures that your privacy preferences are automatically communicated to websites you visit. For more information about your privacy rights under California law, see the “Do Not Sell My Personal Information” section of our Privacy Policy.

How to Enable GPC

To enable Global Privacy Control in your browser, visit globalprivacycontrol.org for instructions and compatible browsers.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or the cookies we use. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.

If we make significant changes to how we use cookies, we may notify you through a prominent notice on our platform or via email (if you have an account with us).

We encourage you to review this Cookie Policy periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies.
